Hambly Loving

I'm doing the Dare Girls Last Scrapper Standing contest and the first challenge was to use 8 clear items on a page. I had a blast doing this page!
I'd had the idea to do a page like this since I last heard this song (one of my all time favourites) and this challenge was the perfect opportunity to get it done. I painted the back of the transparency to add some colour and depth. I went through my older photos from the time we had just a film camera and used the index print sheets. These photos range from 2003 to 2005.

My 8 clear items are
1. Hambly minigraph as background
2. Hambly urban chic frame blue
3, Hambly urban chic frame green
4. Hambly vintage patchwork - cut into the bird shape using the negative of a Heidi Swapp bird sticker as a template
5. Hambly journaling bit
6.Hambly weeds
7. Heidi Swapp ghost flower
8. bubble wrap - I had some of this left out on my desk that I used to stamp on another project, so I cut a piece off!

Other supplies: BG paper; AC chipboard and felt Thickers; K&Co flower stickers and chipboard words; 7G letter rubs; paint, stitching;Every Jot & Tittle label.

Here are a couple of close up shots:

The aftermath of creative frenzy

But look! There's still a 12 inch square space free! I can keep going!

I love this layout.

Sometimes it all just comes together. When I sat down to do this page for the Bad Girls Top Designer Contest, all I knew was that I wanted to use these photos, and that I needed to do a page with texture and dimension (which was the challenge set for us). I pulled out a variety of items I thought would work and started playing. This was the result.

I used stitching, tulle, felt, trim and twine for texture; and layering, lumpy elements and pop dots for dimension. I'm also on a pink/green/blue kick of late so the choice of these papers was easy. I so love that sheet of paper from Scenic Route, I think I bought way too many when a local store was going out of business! And you just can't go wrong with AC Thickers!

The page is about my love of stitching on my projects. When I bought my sewing machine it wasn't with scrapping in mind, but now it's used mostly for that. I'm starting to want to use it for its original purpose again though, and hope to share some sewing projects soon (assuming they look halfway decent!)

A week of fun

Starting tomorrow there will be a Blog Bash at Scrapbook Takeout.
A week of challenges, games and prizes! Check it out!

Don't you love it when "junk mail" is visually appealing ?
I wish however, that I was able to find such delectable delights when I go to flea markets.
Thank you for hosting such a lovely RAK

RAKkity RAK RAK

I love going to the flea market, and I've found lots of fun stuff to use on my projects. I'm planning another trip soon, and thought I'd share some of my finds with someone! Gotta make room for the new stuff after all. Leave a comment on this post and I will randomly draw someone to get these goodies.

1 blank music card
1 blank music notebook
4 pieces of trim
buttons
coloured image - this isn't actually vintage, it's an ad from a Real Estate Company that was in my mailbox!

I'll do the draw on Monday!

ScrapMode Goodness

A couple more projects using ScrapMode papers, rub-ons and chipboard. I love that white chipboard. And it's self-adhesive!

Let's celebrate the end of summer!

Well, I'm not really celebrating, I'm already missing the warm days and hating the cooler temperatures. But at least I have this fun minibook as a reminder! I made it using papers from ScrapMode and embellishments from the August Scrapbook Takeout Kit. I taught this book as a class on the forum there.

Page-a-Day

Dina is leading a Page-a-Day challenge over at ScrapGal between Sep 4th and 9th. So far so good, I'm keeping up.
The second one is a total experiment, well they kinda both are, but especially Urban Acid. I started it for Dare 73, don't use any scrapbooking products on the page, but couldn't find a way I liked to do the title, so out came the foam letters. The title is actually the name of the action I used on the photos, pretty cool I think.

Scrappenings

I've been trying to get myself into my scraproom all day, but it hasn't happened yet. So since I seem to be stuck online I thought I'd share a bit.

The theme for September over at ScrapGal is Change. I went kinda tongue-in-cheek with my two layouts for the newsletter

In more ScrapGal news, the site now has blog capabilities and the DT now has an inspirational blog for the members called GalBlog. We'll be adding challenges, techniques and all sorts of inspiration for the members. Check it out, it's gonna be a blast.

On Friday night (early morning my time) I taught this minibook for August customers at Scrapbook Takeout. The book uses embellishments from the August kit as well as papers from ScrapMode. I'll share photos of the pages soon, I need to take much better ones!

I'm also smiling with glee at a great e-mail I got earlier! Just the pick-me-up I needed.
